Judy says:
L.A. Huffman, Frontier Photographer, took the photograph of this German Montana Freighter, Martin Wehinger, I used as my subject. Freighters were very necessary in Montana, around Miles City, to load the pack mules and wagon trains. This particular freighter told Huffman, an intriguing story about how he, Wehinger, killed a bear with his very own axe, instead of a gun.
