Judy says:
This was the very first woodcut I did. I cut the design in a pine block. Then I squeezed the acrylic paint onto glass, and picked it up with a roller. Using the roller, I applied paint to the woodblock, and printed it. For this picture, I used raw siena acrylic paint.
I began to carve block prints so I could reproduce my paintings over and over again. Minerva and John Allen, Assiniboine, Roxy Gordon's adopted parents, were the folks who inspired me to continue to create my paintings this way; my originals, I kept hanging on my walls, and every once in a while, would be sparked, take the original down and ink-rolled a whole bunch and gave copies to friends as gifts, most recently to Ranger Rita.
Still available: Indian Mother and Her Babe, raw siena acrylic paint on 8½" x 11" paper -- #15, #17, #18, #19, #20. This print run was 12-5-86. Also, have a block print of LeAnne Howe.
