Judy says:

I painted this to reflect an Apache woman very proud to be educated in the U.S.A., very rare and difficult for an Indian woman, in 1927.

Ranger Rita says: This stunning portrait of an Apache woman is painted on a board that forms the underside of a large shallow tray. The painting is nailed to wooden planks which act as a stretcher to keep the picture from warping. Before the Paperbacks Plus exhibit in 2005, Judy applied yellow paint to the back boards.
